BBC Worldwide sells audio books biz to AudioGo

BBC Worldwide said it has sold most of its interest in BBC Audiobooks to AudioGo Limited for an undisclosed sum.

AudioGo will own 85% of the firm and trade under its own name but will continue to publish a BBC Audiobooks imprint.

BBC Worldwide CEO John Smith said, “BBC Worldwide will remain a shareholder in the business, and looks forward to participating in its future success. Sales proceeds will be reinvested in our international businesses, supporting future returns to the BBC, and therefore benefiting the licence fee payer.”
