Yorkshire-based technology group Pace said its shipments of high definition set-top boxes to customers such as BSkyB, DirecTV and Canal Plus were up year-on-year by 31% to 17.2 million in the year ending Dec. 31, making it second only to Motorola as the largest provider in the world.

The firm reported pre-tax profit up year-on-year by 405% to £69.8 million on revenues over the 12 months of £1.13 billion, up year-on-year by 52%.

CEO Neil Gaydon said, “In 2009, Pace delivered exceptional growth and record results and is now No. 2 set-top box provider to the Pay TV industry globally. We are now the most diverse set-top box business by customer, product and geography. Our scale and product spread underpin our resilience, and provide a powerful platform to deliver ongoing sustainable growth.”
