Sony moves Pitman DVD production to Indiana

The Sony Corporation said it will move DVD production from its DADC plant at Pitman, New Jersey, to its DVD plant at Terre Haute, Indiana, to save money.

The New Jersey operation will continue to produce CDs and videogames but some 160 employees will lose their jobs after Sony said the move was essential due to “economic hardships and the current competitive landscape”.

Sony Senior Director of Communications Lisa Gephardt said the switch was made to “take advantage of operating efficiency and lower costs”.
