UK users, ad sales jump at Wild Tangent
WildTangent, whose ORB online game console comes pre-installed on most consumer PCs and laptops in Europe, reported significant growth including record advertising sales and activations of its console.
In December 2009, game console activations rose to almost 2 million, a year-on-year increase of more than 150%, the company said.
The UK saw the largest growth among European countries jumping from 181,909 activations in December 2008 to 419,202 in December 2009, an increase of 130%. Also in the UK, the company reported year-on-year advertising sales up by more than 300%.
WildTangent Director of Business Development EMEA Peter Lorenz said, “As consumers continue to search for more economical means of entertainment, our online games service becomes increasingly attractive.”
Director of Advertising Sales Adam Yates added, “Increased ad spending creates more free gaming sessions, which attracts more and more users. Its a cycle we expect to continue.”
